Your pain is your ministry

If you look closely at healthcare providers and ask about their deepest motivation, there is often a pain. Something from the past. Something they missed or something painful they went through. There is a scar. It no longer hurts, but it shapes them, and somehow it actually gives them strength and a deep motivation.

Wouter and Esther can talk about getting stuck and the literal and figurative pain you go through when you are forced to slow down or even stop completely. They know that there are days when you wake up, and you just know that things won’t work, and you have to change your entire plan. They got stuck several times, but always found a way to keep going and come out stronger. The scars are still there, but they now provide strength to help young people and young adults to get up again and continue. In that sense, their pain became their ministry.
